Update 1/1/16:  Went back to remove all of the extra gadgets and cybernetic doo-dads on her face.  She's too pretty to have her face loaded down with a bunch of wires and stuff invading her eyes and nostrils!!!

Update 5/1/15  Went back and revisited an oldie but goodie...one of my personal favorite pieces of my own!  The story may not be completely accurate to what I have in mind currently especially with all of the cyber-symbiote business, but go with it!  This was originally written before all of the crazy character combining and such...Nikki was less cybernetically enhanced than she is now and the chrome that covers her was a symbiote; not so anymore, as I have other ideas for the cyber-symbiote to go to another character of mine.  BUT..It's a fun and action packed read if you've never read it, so please get cozy and take a few minutes to digest this one!

-------------------------------------------------------------
The cool bite in the air on this night signified the definite return of autumn to the city of Solaris Valley after months of hot and temperate weather. Although one would have to go to the City Park or to the west of the Greater Solaris Valley area to see any visual signs of the season change from Summer to Fall via plant life, the early setting sun and cooler daily temperatures constantly reminded the citizens of the bustling metropolis that Summer was officially gone for another several months.

Although the temperature registered at a brisk 51 degrees Fahrenheit, the streets were still red hot due to crime and other hostile activity waiting to boil and teem over. Solaris Valley Police Department Officer Eboni Banks had the night beat on this late Wednesday evening...she drove her police cruiser down Garvey Boulevard on the upper East Side of town as she patrolled a not so nice side of Solaris Valley, know to locals as "Death Valley". She slammed on her brakes as she passed the dilapidated buildings and tenements of this area of town; a young girl frantically ran from out of an alley as she wildly tried to flag the police car down.

Officer Banks flipped the switch to the blue lights on the roof of her car as she parked at the curb at the entrance of the alley. The young girl was beating on her window as her muffled voice could be heard pleading for help through the closed door and window. Wary of the situation, Officer Banks cracked her window open before she engaged the girl and exited her cruiser.

"Calm down sweetie...what's the matter?"

"My sister and I was walkin' home from the bus stop and...she's having an asthma attack right now! She didn't bring her inhaler and I don't know CPR!!!"

"Alright, I'll do what I can to help her. Let me check in to dispatch right quick and let them know..."

"We don't have time! She's foaming at the mouth and she's having a seizure! Please miss police officer lady, come help my sister...she's dyin'!"

The teenage girl started pulling on the arm of Officer Banks and led her towards the alley. Banks was very apprehensive of the situation, as she was well aware that she wasn't in the nicest of neighborhoods with no partner or any backup. However, she didn't want for her over-cautiousness to be the cause of the girl's sister from dying of an asthma attack if she could help. She jogged behind the teen and began to inquire a bit more about the situation.

"Why were you and your sister going down this dark alley?"

"It's a shortcut to and from the bus stop...our project building is right on the other side. We take it all the time!"

The teen girl began to sprint down the alley. Officer Banks couldn't tell if the girl's sister was up ahead on the ground, as she could barely see what was in front of her. She pulled out her flashlight and her walkie-talkie as she began to dispatch an ambulance to the scene as she continued down the dark alley.

"Dispatch, this is Officer Banks...I've got a juvenile civilian suffering from an asthma attack and I need an EMT here asap. I'm at the corner of Garvey and...OOOOOOF!!!!!!!"

Officer Banks was interrupted as she ran full force into a swing from a baseball bat that caught her directly under her breasts, right across her sternum and short ribs. She dropped her flashlight and walkie-talkie as she staggered about two steps before she was struck with another vicious blow from the bat; this time she was caught high on her back right across her shoulder blades. She fell forward from the mighty impact to her hands and knees; Banks had worn her Kevlar vest, which absorbed some of the impact, yet she still took considerable damage. Her mouth tasted salty as she began to spit out and cough up blood due to the internal injuries that she had sustained from the strikes of the baseball bat. All she could see at that point from the glare of her fallen flashlight were five pairs of feet, one of them belonging to the teen girl that lead her down the alley. The dispatcher could be heard trying to regain communication through the walkie-talkie until it was stomped on and smashed to pieces.

Officer Banks attempted to stand to her feet and draw her gun until she caught another vicious blow, this time from a heavy chain diagonally whipping across her back, knocking her back to the ground, and sending her gun sliding across the alley. It was at that point that the four attackers had began to violently stomp and kick the downed policewoman into a bloody mess as the teen girl stood back and watched everything with an uneasy nervousness. The assailant with the bat picked up the cop's flashlight and shined it under her own chin...she wore the colors black and hot pink, indicative of the local all female street gang known as "The Black Angels," as she laughed at the battered and bloodied policewoman laying there balled up in a fetal position. The head gangster was a light-skinned African American with an asymmetrical short haircut with three lines etched into the extremely short side, and dyed hot pink bangs to match her gang flag and attire. Two of the other female gang members held the limp body of the cop as the lead gang member taunted Officer Banks and shined the bright light into her barely opened eyes and swollen face.

"Hey cop bitch....I see you!!!! Yeah...you ain't so f**kin' tough now without yo' flashlight and yo' gun now, is ya? I can't believe you fell for the oldest trick in da' book!"

She then dropped the bat in exchange for Officer Banks' firearm. She turned to the young teen girl with a smile on her face as she handed the gun to her.

"Good job for luring this po-po pig bitch down this alley, Tay-Tay! Now, it's time for your initiation...if you want to be a member of the Black Angels, you've gotta murk a cop with their own gun!"

"Waitaminute...you ain't said nothin' about murkin' nobody! I don't know if..."

"Look 'heah baby girl, this is what you've gotta do if you wanna roll with us! These streets out 'heah are cold and heartless...you've gotta be cold and heartless too if you wanna survive! You was all 'bout it and talkin' all that good shit the other day when you said that you wanted to be down...now this is your chance to show and prove and put yo' money where yo' mouth is!"

"Yeah, but you want me to kill this bitch? I dunno if I can..."

Just at that moment, Officer Banks was able to find strength enough from somewhere to shrug off the two female thugs that held her and tackled the leader at her legs, taking her down to the ground. The head thug still held the gun in her hand and proceeded to pistol whip Officer Banks in the side of her head, knocking her unconscious in the process. The thug jumped up from the ground in a fowl mood after the seemingly defeated cop was able to make one last ditch effort to thwart the gang's plans for initiating the young nervous teen.

"F**kin' bitch!!! F**k dat...I'm gonna kill dis bitch myself for that little stunt that she just pulled!"

The thug pointed the gun to the unconscious body of Officer Banks as she lay on her stomach; a small pool of blood had began to form under her head draining from her mouth, nose, a few cuts on her face, and the spot where she was struck with the butt of the handgun. Just as the leader of the gang was about to pull the trigger, a bright blue laser beam burned through the air with great speed and velocity from above, catching the thug in her hand and causing her to drop the gun. The thug screamed in agony as the blast gave her instant third degree burns; she shook her blistered smoldering hand and fell to her knees.

The other gangsters looked up from the direction from which the beam came from. They saw the silhouette of a female figure whose body reflected the shine of the moon, standing on the roof overlooking the alley. The figure flipped down into the alley and landed perfectly on her feet, causing the hard concrete ground to crack upon impact. Two glowing purple dots were where her eyes should’ve been, as it was too dark to make out her facial features. At that moment, what looked like the shape of a diamond began to glow the same shade of bright blue as the blast from in between the mystery female's breasts.

One of the thugs picked up the flashlight and shined it on the mysterious figure...the light bounced off of the figure's chrome covered body and lit up the entire alley, momentarily blinding the five ruffians. Once their pupils adjusted to the bright shine, they saw that the mysterious figure was none other than the chrome-bodied cyborg superheroine Adora-1, who looked like she was all business at this point. The leader managed to bark out orders for the other thugs through her pain screams.

"Oh shit!!!!!! Its Adora-1...get her ass! F**k her cyborg ass up!"

The thug wielding the large chain rushed Adora-1, who didn't flinch as the first gangster approached her. In a split second, she formed her chrome cyber-symbiote on her right hand to mimic a chain as well. The thug swung at Adora-1, who counter-attacked by wrapping her chain-shaped symbiotic extension around the attacker's chain, using her momentum to fling the gang member several feet into the air in an arching motion, and causing her to land very hard on her back a sizable distance down the alley. She contorted her symbiote back to its normal state contouring around her forearm and hand as she turned her attention back to the other 3 thugs. Mesmerized by the bionic superheroine’s presence, the young teenage girl had backed up against the wall and watched the action from the sidelines.

In a cocksure manner, Adora-1 stood with her hands on her hips as she waited to see which one of the gangsters would have the guts to advance on her next. The two thugs...one of them of Hispanic decent and the other Caucasian...looked at one another in hesitation, as neither of them really wanted to make the first move. Adora-1 shrugged her shoulders and took the offensive after waiting several moments for them to attack. She ran down the alley at a blinding speed...a silver blur zipped by them and a strong breeze created a wind tunnel effect within the alley as Adora-1 literally ran circles around the two thugs for a minute. Adora-1 moved so fast that they couldn't keep up with her; she jumped up off of a wall, sprang over to a fire escape, and on to bounce off of another wall.

The two thugs stood in ready stances as they tried to get a visual on the speedy cyborg...just then something snatched the Caucasian gangster girl clean off of her feet into the shadows. A couple of thumps and thuds were heard followed by a groan as the unconscious body of the white thug girl landed next to the Latina thug. Adora-1 walked out of the shadows and approached the gangster...out of desperation and fear, the Latina began to wildly throw punches. Adora-1 parried and dodged the entire flurry; she then caught the girl's fist before it connected and began to squeeze. The unsettling crunch of bones breaking could be heard as Adora-1’s vice-like grip broke the misguided thug’s metacarpals and phalanges like a pecan in a nutcracker. Adora-1 tightened her grip even further and twisted the girl's arm; the gangster girl began to wince and squeal in pain while repeatedly slamming her free hand into Adora-1's steel-like body, having absolutely no effect and actually causing harm to her other hand.

Just at that moment the same bat that had put Officer Banks out of commission had slammed hard against the right side of Adora-1's head; she didn't even recoil as it shattered and splintered into many pieces against the metal covered right side of her skull. She turned to see the lead thug holding the broken bat handle in her hand with an astonished look on her face; Adora-1 hoisted the Latina over her head and threw her hard into the leader, sending them both crashing to the ground. As the last two remaining thugs struggled back to their feet, the diamond implanted within Adora-1’s chest had began to glow brightly again along with both of her clenched fists. A huge surge of pure blue energy had streamed from each of her hands and struck the two gang members, putting them both down for the count; their unconscious bodies smoked from the effects of the energy blasts as they lay in a smoldering heap on top of one another.

She then turned to the young teen. The girl had picked up the officer's dropped gun and shook uncontrollably as she aimed the gun in Adora-1's general direction. Adora-1 began to walk towards the girl, who out of fear, managed to fire a round striking Adora-1 in her left shoulder and bouncing off. The girl fired another two shots...the first shot whizzed high over Adora-1’s head, not even coming close to hitting her. Adora-1's cybernetics had calculated the velocity and trajectory of the next bullet fired as she simply yanked it out of midair with her bare hand. She rushed over to the girl and grabbed the gun; her mellow yet firm voice had a digital resonating effect as she finally parted her lips.

"Give me this before you hurt yourself!"

Adora-1 snatched the gun away from the girl...it contorted and crunched into pieces as she squeezed it out of its shape, just like if she were holding clay in her metal coated hand. She then grabbed the girl by her collar and firmly pinned her against the wall with one hand; her other hand was balled into a fist at her side glowing with the same blue energy that took out the previous two gang members. The teen had began sobbing audibly as tears streamed down her face; her tears weren't the only thing streaming, as a wet spot proceeded to spread from the crotch area of her jeans down her legs. Adora-1's cybernetic eye had also began glowing bright purple as she hoisted her off of her feet several inches with one hand. She got in the face of the young girl, pressing her forehead against the girl’s pinning her firmly against the wall as she spoke again.

"What's your name kid?”

The teenager nervously stuttered.

"T..Ta..Tasia..."

"How old are you?"

"Fif..fifteen."

"Does your mama know that you're out here runnin' around in the streets with these losers?"

"Un-uh..."

"I'll bet she's scared shitless right now because you're not home...you should be in bed so you can get up and go to school tomorrow!

Listen here Tasia and listen well...you see these girls here? Don't be like them. As tough as you might think you are, it’s pretty obvious to me that you aren’t made for the streets. These girls aren't your friends; what kind of friend tells you that you have to kill someone just to be in their clique? You have your whole life ahead of you; hanging with degenerates like them won't get you anywhere but either a cold prison cell or a pine box.

Perhaps it's already too late for them...they've chosen the life they want to lead. I ran a dossier scan on all four of them and they have rap sheets tall enough to have their own conversations; you don’t…yet. If you keep heading in the direction that you’re going hanging with pieces of shit like them, you’re headed for self-destruction. But it's not too late for you to get on the right path; don't let these losers drag you down with them! You can be anything you want to be in this life...do you really wanna settle for being a low life thug?"

"Nuh...no ma'am."

"Didn't think so. Tonight's your lucky night...you get to take your ass home to your mama and let her kick that ass instead of me! I know I sound like some corny after school special or something, but I'm serious...do something with your life; don't throw it away like they did doing stupid shit like this! Think about it, you get to go home...they're getting ready to go to the clink. I want you to go and think long and hard about this second chance that I'm giving you and just how fortunate you are right now that you aren't going to jail with them. But if I ever catch you again doing something like this, next time I won't be so gracious...consider this your warning. Now kick rocks before I change my mind...and change those pissy pants! Do you copy?"

"Yes....yes I do! Thank you Adora-1! Thank you!!!"

Adora-1 released her tight grip and dropped the girl back to her feet, who ran down the alley bawling. Adora-1 then rushed over to check on Officer Banks. Her cybernetic systems ran a quick scan on the cop to see just how badly injured she was. Banks had sustained serious head trauma, a cracked sternum, and multiple broken ribs most noticeably amongst other injuries. Adora-1 waved her arm in the air where a series of neon green holographic computer screens appeared; she typed in midair while using her internal systems to then dispatch an ambulance for the wounded officer and a paddy wagon for the four gang members. With another wave of her hand, the holographic computer interface disappeared.

She rounded up the unconscious gang members and then went back to wait at Officer Banks' side until the EMT unit arrived. Adora-1 removed the officer's coat and placed it under her head; Adora-1’s hand faintly glowed with energy as she placed it on the police woman’s chest, providing her soothing warmth all over her body to counteract the chilly breeze blowing through the alleyway. Adora-1 began to wipe the blood from Officer Banks’ mouth and nose, Banks’ eyes fluttered. She began to regain consciousness; with blurry vision she stirred around and looked up at Adora-1 leaning over her.

"Please, be still and relax Officer Banks...I don't want you moving with those broken ribs! You're critically injured...the EMT's are on the way and we'll get you to a hospital ASAP. It's a good thing that I was in the neighborhood and able to pick up your interrupted dispatch call...these girls had some pretty wicked plans in store for you! I'm glad I got here when I did."

Officer Banks was delirious. The bizarre sight of the beautiful shimmering cyborg woman with the reverberating synthesized voice threw her for a loop. She thought that perhaps she had died from the injuries suffered from her ambush or was about to die...to be sure, she hysterically inquired to Adora-1. It was also at that moment when the faint sirens of the ambulance grew loud as it pulled in front of the entrance to the alley. Two EMT workers hastily jumped out of the vehicle with a gurney as they rushed towards Adora-1 and Officer Banks.

"Are...are you an angel coming to take me away?"

Adora-1 chuckled at Officer Banks’ inquiry.

"Angel? Nah...I might be one of the good guys, but as much I cuss I'm definitely no angel! Hang in there with me...the EMTs are here and the only place we're taking you is to a hospital! My scans show that although your injuries are serious and need proper medical attention very soon, you aren't in any immediate danger of dying."

"Are you sure you're not an angel? You look and sound like one to me!"

"Hmm…you know, I guess I was a guardian angel of sorts to you as well as that kid tonight.”

:music: "You thought I was down...
You thought I was gone....
Thought I wasn't around...
That I left you alone...
Well look up in the sky, just look up in the sky...
See that I'm everywhere, everywhere...
Shining Down on you." :music:

From the song "Shining Down" by Lupe Fiasco feat. Matthew Santos (The Mars Volta) www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zh-CIR…

Since I first heard that song, I knew that I had to do an epic piece featuring Diamond...here she is in all of her cyber-chrome covered glory! She's literally a shining beacon of justice in the city of Angel Falls where she has taken a stand against any sort of evil or malicious intent towards the innocent civilians and overall peace and well being of the city. With her mega powerful cyborg body capable of all sorts of amazing feats, Nikki will do whatever it takes to protect the city of Angel Falls and the world from the forces of evil!

Taken from I, Cyborg Pt. 1 I, Cyborg Pt. 1 by Mr-Marcus-81

"I will protect this city and this world and stand up for what is just, right, and fair; as long as my circuits and muscles are in sync and there's still energy coursing through my body I will do what it takes to be the greatest superheroine ever...that is my vow. I may not be the strongest physically, or the fastest, but I will use the natural talents that I have and the technology that I've been fitted with to their full capabilities to protect the citizens and my comrades-in-arms at my side taking up the same fight against evil. I cannot lose...I WILL NOT LOSE!!!"

I REALLY love how this one came out...I don't know if Nikki has ever looked better!!! There were some things that I would've like to have done to make the coloring more dynamic and such, but everything that I tried came out looking a bit janky so I kept it simple. I also decided that I wanted to add a little short story to accompany this one showing Nikki being a crime-fighter along with being a superheroine and role model to the teenage girl...what's a good superheroine/hero if they don't squash a couple of common street thugs from time to time?
